FSSAI, Southern Region conducted a mass awareness campaign of safe, fortified and healthy eating without wasting food through “Eat Right Millets Mela” at Faculty of Hospitality Management and Catering Technology, Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences Bengaluru on 2nd March. This initiative of Food safety & Standards Authority of India was well supported by Herbalife Nutrition a premier global nutrition company who have been adopting such initiatives pan India.
The event was a fun fair to create awareness among people about millets by showcasing various millet based recipes and info graphics display. The Mela may also feature Healthy Recipe demonstrations on Millets Cooking Contest on Millets. On the spot audience Quiz, Slogan writing, Poster making competition for public, Street Play on health benefits of Millets Adding to this. The Mela also featured Local Celebrities, Sports person and other prominent personalities who enhanced public engagement.

The event witness expert talks by Dr. Rakesh Mohan Joshi, Director, Indian Institute of Plantation Management , Dr. Sundaravalli. A, Convenor, NeTProFAN. Fitness enthusiast were seen value adding the event such as Mr Lingaraju and Keerthana BN, Yoga Experts; Bhavya Yeshwanth, Zumba Expert; Sh. Chirnajeevi and; Sh. Kumaresan attended and conducted awareness sessions on the significance of millets and health.
A Special session on General wellness by Mr. Prasad Bhat from Herbalife Nutrition was the main highlight of the event.
Various other activities including Poster Making competition, Quiz competition, Cooking competition and expert talks were also organized for the massive outreach of Safe, Healthy and Sustainable diets.
