Reflecting on her journey, Deepa Malik shares, “What I like the most is that since I received the Padmashree, I have been entrusted with many beautiful responsibilities. The situation of disabled women is such that we provide financial support to many girls to whom we offer education.”

She made history as the first Indian woman to clinch a medal at the Paralympic Games, securing a silver medal in the shot put F53 category at the 2016 Summer Paralympics. Additionally, Deepa claimed gold in the F-53/54 Javelin event.
