JK, (ITS) 16 JULY: An army officer and three other soldiers were reportedly killed in an ongoing operation in Jammu’s Doda district. According reports four personnel including an Army officer succumbed to their injuries after being gravely injured in the Doda gunfight.
The Army spokesperson said that the operation took place yesterday late night after a joint operation by Indian Army and JKP was carried out in General area North of Doda.
“Contact with terrorists was established at about 2100h in which heavy firefight ensued. Initial reports suggest injuries to our bravehearts. Additional troops have been moved into the area. Operations are continuing,” said the Army yesterday in a post on X. Meanwhile, reports have confirmed that around three soldiers and an Army officer have died in the operation.
“Deeply saddened by the loss of our brave and courageous Indian Army Soldiers in a counter terrorist operation in Urrar Baggi, Doda (J&K). My heart goes out to the bereaved families. The Nation stands firmly with the families of our soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty,” said Defence Minister Rajanth Singh in an X post.
He said counter terrorist operations are underway, "and our soldiers are committed to eliminate the scourge of terrorism and restore peace and order in the region."
Meanwhile , the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi on Tuesday extended his “deepest” condolences to bereaved families of army personnel, who laid down their lives while fighting militants in Jammu’s Doda district.
The ADGPI-Indian Army said that the commiserations were paid by the COAS and all ranks of army after four army soldiers – Captain Beijesh Thapa, Naik D Rajesh, Sepoy Bijendra and Sepoy Ajay – lost their lives in Doda militant operation.
The Chief of Army Staff said that all Indian Army stands firm with the bereaved families in this hour of grief.
