Wishing everyone a 811th URS Mubarak of Atta-e-Rasool, Sultan-ul-Hind Hazrat Syed Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti Sanjari Ajmeri Hassani Wal Hussaini al-Maroof Khwaja Gareeb Nawaz (Qaddas Allahu Sirrahu).
Hazrat Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti (Qaddas Allahu Sirrahu) was born in 537 A.H (Islamic Year) in a place called Sanjar, an area in Sijistan (in present day Iran). His real name is Moinuddin Hasan and he is a Hussaini Syed from the family of the Holy Prophet ﷺ. His titles are Sultan Ul-Hind, Ghareeb Nawaz, Ata-E-Rasool, Waris Un-Nabi, Hind Al-Wali, Naib Al-Rasool Fil-Hind and Khwaja-E-Buzurg.
He started traveling at the young age of 15 years old for acquiring knowledge. He travelled to Samarkhand, Bukhara, Baghdad, Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Madinah Al-Munawwarah to acquire the sacred knowledge.
He became a shaykh who was a master of the outward Islamic sciences, but was in search of a spiritual guide to teach him the inward Islamic sciences (ma'rifat) and bring him closer to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala.
He was later initiated into the Chishti spiritual order (tariqa) by pledging allegiance (bayyat) at the hands of Hazrat Khawaja Usman Harooni (Qaddas Allahu Sirrahu). He then spent 30 years in service of his shaykh.
Hazrat Khawaja Moinuddin Chisti (Qaddas Allahu Sirrahu) once said, "When I came in close contact with Hazrat Khawaja Usman Harooni, and became his spiritual disciple (mureed), I passed 8 years in such a way that I took no rest. My only concern was to please him by my devotion and service. When his holiness would go on a journey, I used to carry on my head his bedding and food. My spiritual guide (pir-o-murshid) appreciated and recognized my services. He was pleased with me and granted me such gifts which cannot be described. I am thankful to him for his gifts and kindness."
Hazrat Khawaja Moinuddin Chisti (Qaddas Allahu Sirrahu) was ordered by the Holy Prophet ﷺ in Madina Munawarrah, Saudi Arabia to spread love, humanity and faith in India. Hazrat Khawaja Moinuddin Chisti (Qaddas Allahu Sirrahu) spent 40 days in spiritual meditation (chillah) near the maqam (tomb) of Hazrath Data Ganj Baksh Ali Hijveri (Qaddas Allah Sirrahu) before proceeding to Ajmer, India.
He stood up against an oppressive ruler in Ajmer, India and was truly Gharib Nawaz (Benefactor of the Poor). He did not discriminate against anyone despite race, class, religion and was known for his immense generosity for feeding and helping the poor. He brought brought over 90 million people to Islam at his blessed hands, and his miracles were many.
He was known to perform his Fajr (morning prayer) with the wudhu (ablution) of Isha (night prayer) and was known to complete two recitations of the Holy Qur'an daily.
His resting place is Ajmer Sharif, India. He is visited by millions of people from all different backgrounds for his spiritual blessings.
His Langar Khana (open kitchen) at his maqam (tomb) in Ajmer, India is still famous for the cooking of a large amount of food in degs (large iron pots) and the feeding of thousands of people at no cost every day.
