The Global Trade & Technology Council (India) (GTTCI), in collaboration with Sterling Sales Pvt. Ltd., hosted a prestigious Business Meet today at Radisson Blu Plaza, Delhi Airport, with a distinguished Cuban delegation from GEMPIL (The Light Industry Business Group). The meeting was held in the esteemed presence of H.E. Mr. Abel Aballe Despaigne, Chargé d'Affaires at the Embassy of Cuba in India, marking a significant opportunity for advancing India-Cuba trade relations in the textile sector.

The Cuban delegation included Ms. Dora Bernardina Castillo Alvarez, representing Boga Textile Clothing Company; Mr. Mario Oscar Lopez Perez, from GEMPIL’s Light Industry Business Group; and Mr. Norge Enrique Delgado Breuil, from Industrias Nexus S.A. Their visit to India had several key objectives, particularly focused on fostering trade relations with India’s textile industry. The delegation sought to exchange ideas and opportunities with Indian producers and exporters of cotton fibers, with a special emphasis on receiving bids for cotton supplies during the harvest season.

The delegation also showcased Cuba’s iconic Criolla Brand Collection of Guayaberas, with the intention of expanding its market presence in India. As the brand is already registered in India, the Cuban representatives explored potential Indian partners for co-production and commercialization of Criolla products. Additionally, they aimed to establish relationships with suppliers for textiles such as school uniforms and sought competitive offers for procurement.

A further objective of the delegation was to engage with producers of semi-finished clothing, particularly women’s and men’s jeans, men’s polo shirts, women’s pullovers, as well as sets of bedsheets and towels, with the intention of completing these products in Cuba. The visit offered a platform to discuss potential collaborations and identify opportunities for mutual benefit in the textile trade sector.

The Cuban delegation was hosted by Mr. Hemant Dhingra, Director of Sterling Sales Pvt. Ltd., and the meeting was coordinated by Mr. Rishabh Gupta, Trade Specialist at GTTCI. Several prominent GTTCI members, including Mr. Deepanker Parashar and Mr. Pavan Vaish, also participated in the discussions, offering their insights and expertise on India’s textile industry.

This business meet reflects a positive step forward in India-Cuba trade relations, particularly in the light industry and textile sectors. It is expected that the discussions held today will lead to fruitful collaborations, enhancing both nations' textile trade capacities and opening doors for new opportunities.
