4 Rashtriya Rifles Continues Civic Role, Saves Lives During Fire Incident

Bhaderwah, Dec 17: Reaffirming its role beyond security duties, the 4 Rashtriya Rifles (4 RR) battalion stationed at Bhaderwah played a crucial role in containing a fire that broke out in Puneja village on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 3:40 pm when a residential house caught fire and later spread to nearby homes. Fire and Emergency Services, Police personnel and local residents immediately rushed to the spot and initiated firefighting and rescue operations.

On noticing the fire, Army personnel from 4 RR swiftly moved in with a water bowser and firefighting equipment, extending vital assistance to the civil authorities. Their timely intervention helped contain the blaze and prevented it from spreading further, thereby protecting lives and property.

During the operation, a few soldiers and civilians sustained minor injuries and were provided prompt first aid by Army medical staff at the site. No loss of life was reported.

Local residents lauded the swift response and selfless efforts of the Army personnel, appreciating their commitment to public welfare. The incident once again highlights the Indian Army’s continued civic engagement alongside its counter-insurgency operations in the upper Himalayan region.
