JK – Bhaderwah, Sept 5: In continuation of its goodwill gesture, the Indian Army’s 4 Rashtriya Rifles (Chinar Warriors) on Friday organised a Relief Camp at Bheja village for families affected by the recent flash floods and cloudburst in Bhaderwah valley.

During the programme, the Army distributed blankets, solar lights, medicines, and basic household utensils among the affected families. The event was held in the presence of MLA Bhaderwah Daleep Singh Parihar, ADC Bhaderwah Sunil Bhutyal, and other senior administrative officials. Several social and political figures also participated and lauded the Army’s humanitarian role.

Commander 9 Sector, Brig Sunil Mishra, was also present on the occasion. While addressing the gathering, he described the effort as a small gesture and assured the people that the Army fully stands with those affected by the flash floods. He further said that the Army is trying its best to reach every family in need during this crucial time.

Just days earlier, the same Army unit had constructed a wooden footbridge in under 18 hours over the Mush Dev Nallah near Butla–Beja, reconnecting remote villages—Beja, Butla, Shrekhi, and Katyara—that had been cut off due to road collapse during the floods. The effort not only restored connectivity but also reassured locals of the Army’s commitment to stand shoulder to shoulder with the people in crises.

Speaking at the Relief Camp, social activist Tariq Butt loudly appreciated the initiative. “The Army always stands with the public whenever emergencies arise in any part of the state. Their helping hands in rural areas—whether through rescue, medical aid, or even building bridges—deserve full appreciation,” he said.

The Army has been at the forefront of relief operations across the Jammu division in recent weeks, carrying out rescue missions, setting up medical camps, and restoring vital road links through Bailey and temporary bridges in flood-hit districts including Doda,Kishtwar, Ramban, Udhampur ,Kathua, and Jammu city.

With such continuous efforts, the Indian Army has once again reassured the people of Bhaderwah that they are never alone in times of crisis.
