Jammu, Feb 23: Seven militants, including Saifullah, were eliminated after a 326-day high-altitude joint operation in the Chatroo area of Kishtwar district, the White Knight Corps of the Indian Army said on Monday.

The Corps, in a statement on X, said the operation — codenamed “Gallant Perseverance” — was conducted in coordination with Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) based on sustained intelligence inputs from civil and military agencies.

Security forces tracked the militants across dense forests, steep ridgelines and rugged mountainous terrain in the Chatroo belt, operating under cold, wet and freezing weather conditions. The prolonged operation led to multiple encounters over several months before all seven militants were neutralised, officials said.

Advanced technology, including FPV drones, satellite imagery, remotely piloted aircraft (RPAs)/UAVs and secure communication systems, was extensively used to monitor movement in heavily forested and high-altitude areas.

The Army said the elimination of Saifullah and his associates has dealt a significant blow to the militant network operating in the region. The success of the operation reflects sustained coordination, determination and operational endurance by the security forces, it added.
