Triveni Amphitheatre, Triveni Kala Sangam
New Delhi witnessed an electrifying musical evening as Rahis Bharti and his celebrated ensemble DHOAD Gypsies of Rajasthan, joined by French rock legend Yarol Poupaud, mesmerized a fully packed audience at the iconic Triveni Kala Sangam. The Triveni Amphitheatre overflowed with energy as the audience danced, clapped, and tapped their feet, responding with overwhelming enthusiasm and love for this unforgettable performance.
Proudly presented by Triveni Kala Sangam in collaboration with Alliance Française de Delhi, and invited by the Alliances Françaises and the French Embassy in New Delhi, the concert marked a historic moment — the first-ever collaboration in India between French electric rock and the timeless folk traditions of Rajasthan.
Renowned as one of France’s most influential rock musicians, Yarol Poupaud, former guitarist and musical director for Johnny Hallyday, brought raw power, fiery guitar riffs, and magnetic stage presence to the evening. Sharing the stage with him, Rahis Bharti — Founder and Artistic Director of DHOAD — led his ensemble with masterful artistry, presenting soulful rhythms, hypnotic vocals, and the vibrant musical heritage of the Thar Desert.

For over 25 years, Rahis Bharti has been performing across the globe, touring more than 119 countries and providing an international platform to over 700 rural folk artists from Rajasthan. Through DHOAD, he has tirelessly worked to preserve, promote, and celebrate India’s rich folk traditions on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including La Seine Musicale during Namaste France, Parc de la Villette, Elysée Montmartre with Matthieu Chedid, Festival du Bout du Monde in Crozon, Jazz sous les Pommiers, and many more.
“It always feels special to perform in my home country. Dhoad is my village in Rajasthan, and taking the music of my land to the world has always been my greatest motivation,” said Rahis Bharti, Founder and Artistic Director of DHOAD – Gypsies of Rajasthan.
The concert delivered a bold and unexpected fusion — where electric French rock met ancient desert folk traditions — creating a powerful, high-energy soundscape that left the audience exhilarated and deeply moved. The standing ovations and non-stop dancing were a testament to the show’s extraordinary impact.
Through his relentless dedication and global presence, Rahis Bharti continues to make Bharat proud on the international stage, using music as a bridge between cultures and as a voice for rural folk artists of India.
