Smrutha Santhosh, acclaimed British-Indian fashion designer and founder of luxury label Wow Vastra, took centre stage at the Sufi Soiree & Red Carpet Fashion Walk, presented by Beauty & The Best Magazine on August 21, 2026, at The Local Heights Lounge, Punjabi Bagh, New Delhi.
The glittering evening brought together fashion, culture, soulful music and red-carpet glamour while celebrating Indian craftsmanship through a showcase of distinctive creations by Smrutha Santhosh.
Smrutha Santhosh Takes Centre Stage
The evening showcased a selection of glamorous outfits by Smrutha Santhosh, whose designs blend contemporary luxury with India’s rich textile and craft traditions.
Smrutha made history in 2025 as the first British-Indian female fashion designer to walk the prestigious Cannes Film Festival red carpet. She captured international attention by appearing in her own creation alongside a model wearing an exquisite lehenga saree embellished with real peacock feathers.
At the New Delhi event, the Sufi Soiree & Red Carpet Fashion Walk combined soulful melodies with a fashion presentation by Wow Vastra, highlighting Smrutha’s commitment to bringing traditional Indian craftsmanship to an international audience.
Beauty & The Best Magazine Cover Unveiled
A special highlight of the evening was the unveiling of the Beauty & The Best Magazine cover featuring Smrutha Santhosh. The cover unveiling celebrated her journey as a British-Indian designer and entrepreneur, followed by a cake-cutting ceremony.
The evening also welcomed Neeru Vashisth and Vijay Laxmi as distinguished guests, with their special cover posters unveiled during the celebrations.

From Investment Banking to Fashion: Smrutha Santhosh’s Journey
Speaking about her journey, Smrutha Santhosh said: “Having lived in the UK for 23 years, I have built a distinguished, highly structured career as a management consultant in investment banking. A few years ago, I channelled that same precision, discipline and professionalism into my true passion—fashion—founding Wow Vastra, a bespoke luxury label deeply rooted in India’s rich heritage of handwoven textiles, including Kanchipuram, Banarasi, Ajrakh and Jamdani.”
Her transition from the corporate world to fashion reflects a desire to combine contemporary design with India’s centuries-old textile traditions.
Wow Vastra Celebrates Indian Craftsmanship
Founded by Smrutha Santhosh, Wow Vastra positions craftsmanship, individuality and artisan empowerment at the heart of its design philosophy. Each creation is designed as a distinctive piece and crafted in collaboration with traditional artisans from different parts of India.
The label works with Indian textile traditions such as Kanchipuram, Banarasi, Ajrakh and Jamdani while seeking to provide artisans with sustainable opportunities and recognition for their craftsmanship.
