Terrorist Neutralised, AK Rifle Recovered in Budgam Anti-Terror Operation

JK – Srinagar, SEPT 4 (ITN) : Security forces eliminated a terrorist and recovered an AK rifle alongside other war-like stores during an ongoing anti-terror operation in the Ashdar Gali area of Budgam district on Friday.

According to officials, the joint operation was launched by security forces following specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of terrorists in the area.

The Army’s Chinar Corps confirmed that troops initiated a cordon and search operation in the general area of Ashdar Gali, code named Operation ASHDAR. During the search, troops detected suspicious movement and challenged the suspects. The terrorists opened fire, prompting the security forces to retaliate and triggering a fierce gunfight.

“In the exchange of gunfire, one terrorist was neutralised and one AK rifle along with other war-like stores were recovered,” the Chinar Corps stated in a post on X.

The identity of the slain terrorist and the specific details of the recovered war-like stores are yet to be ascertained. The operation remains underway as security forces continue to comb the area to rule out the presence of any remaining militants.
