JK, Oct. 30 (ITN) : National Conference MP Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi has invited people to attend a public gathering at Behisht-e-Zehra Park in Budgam on November 3, where he is expected to make a major political announcement linked to his resignation.
Posters carrying the title “Resignation Announcement” have appeared at several places, inviting the public to the programme and describing Mehdi as the “Voice of the Voiceless”.
Although the MP has not officially clarified the circumstances behind the proposed announcement, speculation is rife that he may quit both the National Conference and the Lok Sabha.
Ruhullah has remained critical of the NC leadership over alleged failure to fulfil electoral promises. He had also stayed away from campaigning for the party’s candidate during the Budgam Assembly by-election.
Speculation about his possible entry into the Congress has also surfaced, though neither Mehdi nor the Congress has confirmed any such development.
