Snow Marathon ‘Run for Martyrs’ Blends Patriotism with Breathtaking Winter Beauty in Bhaderwah.

Doda (J&K), February 16:- Amid pristine snow-covered slopes and the breathtaking backdrop of towering cedar trees, a Snow Marathon titled “Run for Martyrs” was organised from Chinta to the picturesque Jai Ghati in Bhaderwah to honour the supreme sacrifice of the nation’s brave soldiers.

The event was conducted by the Army’s 4 Rashtriya Rifles under the aegis of the Rashtriya Rifles and was flagged off by Commanding Officer Yogesh Chouhan along with senior district administrative officers.

Despite the challenging terrain and freezing temperatures, locals, youth, senior citizens, and Army personnel participated with remarkable enthusiasm, transforming the marathon into a moving symbol of unity and patriotism.

On reaching the snow-laden Jai Ghati, a vibrant cultural programme was organised, adding warmth and emotion to the solemn tribute. Mr Ravi Thakur, a retired administrative officer, enthralled the audience with melodious performances, including a self-composed Bhaderwahi song highlighting communal harmony and brotherhood, which drew loud applause.

Environmental activist Sachin Singh Sambyal lauded the Army for organising a meaningful event that blended remembrance with community participation. He remarked that such initiatives strengthen national pride while inspiring citizens to contribute towards a united and developed India.

Addressing the gathering, the Commanding Officer expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people of Bhaderwah for their unwavering support, particularly recalling their courageous help in carrying injured soldiers to safety during a recent accident. He observed that the bond between civilians and the Army has grown into one of deep trust and cooperation.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Bhaderwah, Sunil Kumar Bhutyal, paid glowing tributes to the fallen heroes and thanked participants for making the programme a success, emphasising that such events nurture patriotism and social harmony, especially among the younger generation.

The programme concluded with the distribution of certificates of appreciation to participants, leaving behind a powerful message of sacrifice, unity, and the serene beauty of snow-clad Jai Ghati standing witness to the nation’s gratitude.
