Artist and teacher promotes traditional heritage

JK-Bhaderwah, OCT. 7 (ITN) : An art and craft stall set up by Anu Radha, an artist and teacher, emerged as one of the attractions of Bhadarwahi Rang 4.0, drawing students in traditional Bhaderwahi attire and highlighting the role of creative education in preserving the region’s cultural heritage.

Surrounded by enthusiastic students, Anu Radha explained the artistic techniques and creative ideas behind her handmade works, encouraging the younger generation to explore local art, develop their creative abilities and remain connected with their language, traditions and cultural identity.

Her stall showcased a variety of artistic creations, including mandala art, sculpture, paper art, texture art, quilling and other art-and-craft works, reflecting her commitment to promoting creativity and making art accessible to young learners.

The stall was also visited by Deputy Commissioner Doda Krishan Lal and other administrative officials, who appreciated her artistic contribution and efforts to encourage students. Anu Radha was presented with a memento and an appreciation certificate in recognition of her work.

Speaking to ITN correspondent, Anu Radha said her artwork had received encouraging responses from audiences both in person and through social media, inspiring people to appreciate and explore different forms of art.

She said her creations had been exhibited on district, state, national and international platforms, both online and offline, including associations and venues such as the ECOSOC Art Platform, National Art Gallery of Jhansi, The World Artist Community, Tantila Foundation of India, Kalakung, Manikarnika Art Gallery, Artizen Art Gallery and Rangakash.

Anu Radha said she had received five national and five international awards for her artistic work, representing her district and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

She added that her students were also producing innovative and exciting artwork, demonstrating the potential of creative learning to nurture young talent.

At a time when traditional languages and cultural practices require active engagement from younger generations, initiatives that bring students closer to local art and heritage can help preserve community identity while encouraging creativity and confidence.

The participation of students in traditional attire at Anu Radha’s stall added to the cultural atmosphere of Bhadarwahi Rang 4.0, reinforcing the event’s broader message of preserving Bhaderwah’s artistic traditions and passing its cultural legacy on to future generations.
