New Delhi, Sept. 10 (ITN):- In a major boost to regional tourism and a welcome relief for government personnel, the Union Government has extended the special Leave Travel Concession (LTC) facility for Central Government employees visiting Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, the North-Eastern Region, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands by another two years.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the scheme has been extended and will remain valid until September 25, 2028.
Under the provisions of the scheme, eligible central government employees are permitted to convert one Home Town LTC to visit these designated regions, subject to prescribed rules and conditions.
The decision aims to provide enhanced travel opportunities to government workforce members while strengthening connectivity and economic integration across strategic regions. The extension is expected to provide a significant fillip to the tourism sector in Jammu & Kashmir, where increasing visitor inflows remains a key priority for regional economic growth.
