JK- Gurez, October 21 (ITN) : The Indian Army has provided drinking water to residents of New Basti Kanzalwan in north Kashmir’s Gurez Valley after pipeline damage disrupted regular supply for several days.
The Army’s intervention offered temporary relief to affected families struggling to meet daily water needs. Mohammad Munwar Lone, former nambardar of Kanzalwan, appreciated the Army’s assistance and thanked its personnel for supplying water tankers.
However, residents urged the Jal Shakti Department to repair the damaged pipeline on priority and ensure a permanent restoration of safe drinking water, highlighting the difficulties faced by families, particularly women, in the remote border village.
The incident underscores the need for reliable essential services in villages near the Line of Control (LoC).
