LG Sinha Hoists National Flag at Lok Bhavan, Pays Tribute to Martyrs

Srinagar, Aug 15 (ITN): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha hoisted the National Flag at Lok Bhavan, Srinagar, on Saturday to mark the 80th Independence Day.

On the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor remembered the freedom fighters and national leaders whose sacrifices helped India achieve independence. He also paid homage to civilians who lost their lives in natural calamities this year and expressed his sympathy with their families.

LG Sinha conveyed his warm wishes to the personnel of the Armed Forces, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Armed Police Forces and other security agencies.

He expressed gratitude to the soldiers and police personnel who have made the supreme sacrifice while protecting the country and maintaining its unity and security.

“ We hold a deep sense of gratitude for the courageous soldiers and police personnel, who made the ultimate sacrifice defending our nation’s unity and fighting terrorism,” he said.

The Lieutenant Governor urged people to come together and work towards fulfilling the hopes and aspirations of those who sacrificed their lives for the nation. He stressed the importance of peace, development and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir.

He also called for continued efforts to build a peaceful and progressive Jammu and Kashmir and contribute to the growth and development of the nation.

The Independence Day ceremony at Lok Bhavan was held in a patriotic atmosphere in the presence of senior officials and other dignitaries.
