Islamabad confirms invitation, says participation decision awaits consultations

New Dehli, Nov 7 (ITN) : Pakistan has confirmed receiving India’s invitation to the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Civilisational Dialogue Forum, scheduled to be held in New Delhi from November 20 to 22, but has yet to decide whether to participate.

Pakistan Foreign Office spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan said the matter was under consideration and a final decision would be taken by the country’s leadership after consultations with relevant institutions.

Pakistan’s National Heritage and Culture Minister Aurangzeb Khan Khichi is also reportedly among those invited to the event, which will bring together representatives of SCO member states.

The invitation comes amid strained bilateral relations following the April 2025 Pahalgam terror attack and the subsequent military confrontation between India and Pakistan in May.

The proposed participation is being viewed as a significant diplomatic development, although Islamabad’s final response to New Delhi’s invitation is still awaited.
