Srinagar, Sept. 7 (ITN) : The Youth Congress Srinagar, led by its President Yasir Mandoo, staged a peaceful protest at Press Colony on Monday to express solidarity with intern doctors who are currently on strike and observing a hunger strike to demand a stipend hike.
Speaking to reporters during the demonstration, Mandoo highlighted the critical role played by intern doctors in maintaining health services, noting that they work long hours to keep the healthcare system functional while being denied adequate financial support and dignity. He described their demand for a fair stipend increase as fully justified.
Mandoo strongly condemned the alleged intimidation of the protesting medical interns by hospital authorities, demanding an immediate end to any threats against students exercising their democratic rights. He stated that the issue should be resolved through constructive dialogue rather than pressure or coercion.
Reaffirming the party’s backing for the medical interns, the Youth Congress urged the government to step in immediately and announce an enhancement to their current stipend.
