Jammu, Oct 17 (ITN): The J&K Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has dismantled a major illegal mining nexus in Udhampur and Reasi districts by booking two senior mining officials and several private operators.
The bureau registered FIR No. 09/2026 against Udhampur District Mining Officer (DMO) Rajeev Jammu, Reasi DMO Rameshwar Sangra, private individual Swaran Singh Rathore, and others under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
According to officials, the accused public servants colluded with private players to facilitate mining beyond permissible limits, continue extraction after lease expiries, and run stone crushers without valid consent. The nexus also allegedly manipulated digital e-challans to transport illicit minerals while aggressively overcharging the public above government-mandated tariffs.
Simultaneous search operations are currently underway at multiple residential and commercial premises to assess the total financial loss inflicted on the government exchequer.
