JK-Srinagar, Oct. 26 (ITN): PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Monday said Jammu and Kashmir’s accession to India was based on specific commitments that, she asserted, must be honoured, rejecting what she described as a “blank cheque” to the Centre.

Invoking Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a secular India on Accession Day, Mufti stressed that the circumstances and assurances associated with the accession should not be overlooked.

She reiterated the need to respect Jammu and Kashmir’s political and constitutional rights, maintaining that the accession should not be interpreted as an unrestricted authority for the Centre to disregard the commitments linked to it.
